Locks do not fail at convenient times. If you are searching for an emergency locksmith in Paris at midnight, on a Sunday morning or on a bank holiday, here is how it works and what to expect.
We take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The technician comes to you in Paris or in the suburbs, and we explain the price on the phone before anyone drives over. For the usual lockout, the call-out starts from €90 on a normal weekday.
Outside weekday hours, meaning evenings, nights, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, a 50% surcharge applies to labour. It is announced before we leave for your address, and it applies to the work, not to the lock or the parts. We tell you the total, you agree or you do not, and that is the end of it.
This is the hour when the scams work best. A tired tourist on a pavement does not argue, and some firms count on that. They quote a low figure on the phone, then add "special tools", "security doors" or "night rates" on arrival. Our rule is simple: one price, said before the visit, confirmed at the door. If the figure changes without a good reason, you can refuse, and we will leave.
If it can wait until morning, say so. A daytime visit is cheaper because no surcharge applies, and many people prefer it for a tired lock that is still holding.
Be at the door, or ask someone to be. Have your ID and a document linking you to the address (lease, booking, utility letter). Tell us the floor, the building code, and whether the door has one lock or several. A photo of the door helps us bring the right parts.
An emergency opening often reveals a lock that was already worn. Once the stress is over, you may want to replace the cylinder. Our page on changing a lock in Paris explains the options. If a break-in is the reason you called, read what to do after a burglary.
